ChecklistSquad emails you when something in your work changes and you are not looking at the app. Four kinds of email exist, each with its own switch, and every one of them has a link at the bottom that stops that kind with one click. Apart from one welcome when you join an organization, nothing else is sent: no digests, no marketing, no "you have been inactive".

What reaches you

EmailWhenWho gets it
Assigned to meA checklist, a section or a step is assigned to you, or to a squad you are inYou
Due in 1 hourA checklist with steps that are yours is due within the hourEveryone with open steps on it
Blocked stepsSomeone blocks a step on a checklist you own, with their reasonThe checklist's owners
Finished checklistsSomeone else finishes a checklist you own, with how many steps were doneThe checklist's owners

You never get an email about something you did yourself. Assigning a step to yourself, blocking your own step or finishing your own checklist sends nothing.

Assigning work to everyone in the organization sends nothing either: it says "anyone can do this", and emailing the whole company for it would be noise. Assigning a squad emails each person in it.

Emails come from hello@checklistsquad.com. If one does not arrive, check your spam folder and add the address to your contacts.

Your welcome email

Ten minutes after you join an organization, by signing up or by accepting an invitation, you get one welcome email. It says what is yours right now (or how to start, if you made the organization), and links this help center. It is sent once per organization and has no switch.

When it sends

The assignment email waits until your work stops changing. When someone sets up a checklist they assign several things in a row, and a quick change of mind should not reach you. So ChecklistSquad waits five quiet minutes after the last change to your work, and never more than fifteen minutes after the first one, then sends one email per piece of work that is still yours. A step assigned and then reassigned inside that window never reaches the first person.

A step inside a section that is already yours sends nothing: you have the section. Two steps and then the section over them send one email, about the section.

The due-soon reminder goes out an hour before the due time, once, to whoever still has open steps. A checklist started less than an hour before it is due is not reminded of, and a recurring checklist's day isn't reminded of before it opens.

A recurring checklist doesn't send the assignment email each time it makes a day, since who does what is the same as last time. Changing who does one day's part does send it.

Turning a kind off

Open Profile → Notifications in the app. Each kind has a switch; they are all on until you turn one off. The change is yours alone and follows you to every device you sign in on. It is kept on your phone first, so it works offline and reaches the server when you are next online.

Every email also ends with Stop emails like this. Opening the link shows a page that asks once; confirming turns that one kind off. The other kinds stay as they were, and you can turn it back on in the app any time.

Push notifications

Not available yet. The switch is on the Notifications screen, disabled, so you can see where it will be.
