You need an Entra ID role that can create enterprise applications, such as Cloud Application Administrator, and an admin of your ChecklistSquad organization. Start the setup in ChecklistSquad first, choose Microsoft Entra, and verify your domain.

Create the application

  1. In the Microsoft Entra admin center, open Enterprise applications and choose New application, then Create your own application.
  2. Name it "ChecklistSquad", choose Integrate any other application you don't find in the gallery, and create it.
  3. Open Single sign-on and choose SAML.

Enter ChecklistSquad's values

In Basic SAML Configuration, choose Edit and paste the values ChecklistSquad shows:

Entra fieldChecklistSquad value
Identifier (Entity ID)SP Entity ID
Reply URL (Assertion Consumer Service URL)ACS URL

Leave Sign on URL and Relay State empty, and save.

Send the right claims

Under Attributes & Claims, make sure the unique user identifier (Name ID) is user.mail (or user.userprincipalname when it matches the email), and add three claims with these names and no namespace:

Claim nameSource attribute
emailuser.mail
first_nameuser.givenname
last_nameuser.surname

Give ChecklistSquad the metadata

Under SAML Certificates, copy the App Federation Metadata Url and paste it into ChecklistSquad's metadata field, then choose Connect. You can paste the downloaded Federation Metadata XML instead.

Assign people and test

In Users and groups, assign the people or groups who should use ChecklistSquad. Then, in ChecklistSquad, choose Turn on single sign-on and Test sign-in, and sign in with your own Microsoft account.
